ABOUT : DESIGNS BY ANON

DESIGNS BY ANON WAS CREATED BY EMILY LIGGINS, A BIRMINGHAM BASED TEXTILE ARTIST. AFTER COMPLETING A FOUNDATION DIPLOMA AT  BOURNVILLE ART COLLEGE SHE WENT ON TO STUDY TEXTILE DESIGN AT CENTRAL SAINT MARTINS UNIVERSITY OF THE ARTS, LONDON.

HER WORK BRIDGES THE GAP BETWEEN TEXTILES AS INDEPENDENT ART PIECES AND INTERIOR HOME PRODUCTS THROUGH EXPERIMENTATION WITH FABRIC CONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUES SUCH AS KNITTING, KNOT WORK AND HAND WEAVING. HER WORK INTENTIONALLY EXCLUDES THE USE OF MACHINE TECHNOLOGY ALLOWING HER TO PURSUE AN HANDS ON APPROACH TO HER CRAFT.

OFTEN BLURRING THE LINES BETWEEN TEXTILES AND FINE ART, HER COLLAGE SERIES USES LOOM WEAVING PLANS TO CREATE 'FABRICS' OUT OF FOUND AND RECYCLED PAPERS.

SOME OF EMILY'S PAST PROJECTS INCLUDE ASSISTANT CURATING A POP-UP ART GALLERY IN BIRMINGHAM WHERE SHE EXHIBITED AND SOLD HER CUSTOM WOVEN FABRICS. PARTICIPATING IN THE PRODUCTION OF A FINE ART GALLERY AT A MUSIC AND ARTS FESTIVAL IN UPSTATE NEW YORK AS THE RESIDENT TEXTILE ARTIST AND MEMBER OF THE PRODUCTION CREW, AND COLLABORATING ON AN INSTALLATION PIECE AT 555 GALLERY IN SOUTH BOSTON.
